Over the weekend, RTL ran a special report on the canine first-aid training course that the Protection UNIT Academy has just launched! Renowned for its canine brigade and its training centre offering more than 80 different types of training, Protection UNIT has combined these two specialities with a new kind of training course aimed at professionals and the general public.

As the first 100% Belgian security company, our company has its own training centre, the Protection UNIT Academy, based in Wavre (Limal) and Liège (Saint-Georges), for security guards (basic training and additional modules) and company employees who wish to entrust it with training in first aid and first response equipment, among other things.

The pet first aid course is aimed at everyone, including private individuals who want to be able to take the best action to save their dog or cat, which is why it takes place on Saturdays. The course was designed and is taught by a vet who specialises in teaching these techniques. Participants are given a comprehensive syllabus, so they won’t forget anything they’ve learnt during the 6-hour course.

Protection UNIT has a highly sought-after and renowned canine brigade, with its surveillance dogs and its Explosive Detection Dogs department. ‘The dogs in our brigade have become colleagues in their own right, and this convinced us of the usefulness of this training. We then decided that it would be appropriate to offer it to the general public or to professionals working with dogs, and given the success we encountered, the demand was indeed there”, says Samuel Di Giovanni, founder of Protection UNIT. Many new dates have been added, in Wavre and Liège, to keep up with demand.
