If there is one place that must be secure, it is where, every morning, parents drop off the people dearest to them: educational institutions. As a true trusted partner, Protection UNIT looks after many schools and is pleased to announce that it has seen its contracts with the Lycée Français and ULB renewed!
Since taking office earlier this year, Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin has launched a series of ambitious reforms aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety and supporting law enforcement in the field. As he has repeatedly stated, security is his top priority, and with that in mind, he regularly carries out field visits to gain a deeper understanding of the work done by all stakeholders involved.
To explore the world of private security from every angle, he chose to visit Protection UNIT, Belgium’s leading 100% Belgian-owned security company.
We had the honor of welcoming him to our Saint-Georges (Liège) offices on September 30 for an extensive visit during which he discovered the different aspects of our work: tailored site surveillance, event preparation to prevent incidents, remote monitoring, and new technologies.
We then accompanied Minister Quintin to Liège Airport, where we showed him how our agents and EDD teams (Explosive Detection Dogs) work tirelessly to ensure safe flights and cargo — now supported by our new patrol robot, the Suricate.
This innovative tool, presented to the Minister during his visit, is a cutting-edge blend of European and Swiss technology that collects key data via cameras, thermal sensors, and microphones. These data are analyzed by its built-in artificial intelligence, with all information transmitted in real time to our monitoring center, Vision, for an immediate and appropriate response.
Thanks to Protection UNIT, Liège Airport is the first airport in Belgium to use such technology — ensuring full security coverage, even in hard-to-reach areas.
Throughout the visit, Minister Bernard Quintin discussed the major challenges of private security with our CEO Samuel Di Giovanni, Managing Director Nicolas Van Ysendyck, and our management teams.
We sincerely thank Minister Bernard Quintin for his visit, his interest, and his ongoing commitment to field engagement.
